The Rev. Kenneth Powell, Interim Pastor

The Reverend Kenneth Powell, Sr. was born on February 15, 1955 in Jersey City, NJ. He was baptized at the age of 13 at Norton Avenue Baptist Church in Bristol, PA. He is a 1972 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, after which he joined the military as an enlisted soldier attaining the rank of Specialist 5th Class. In 1975 he left the military and attended Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD where he received a Bachelor's degree in Speech Communication and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Military Intelligence Corps in the US Army in 1985. He later became a Signals Communications Officer and served this country as an Army Officer until 2002 when after 26 years of service, he retired with the rank of Major from active duty as a Bronze Star recipient. He is a 1997 graduate of Command and General Staff College (CGSC); he went on to attain a Master of Science degree in Military Science from  CGSC and a Master of Arts degree in Management of Information Systems from Webster University while in the military. In 2005 he married Vanessa Powell, Esq., and blended together their family with 6 children. In 2009 he graduated from St. Mary's Seminary and University with a Master of Arts degree in Theology. In 2011 he was ordained a Vicar and served as a Mission Redeveloper at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Catonsville, MD until he was ordained as their Pastor in 2013. In 2016 Ken attended Wesley Seminary  for D/Min classes in the Life Together Ministry. In August 2019 Pastor Ken came to Trinity Lutheran Church to serve as Interim Pastor which is where he serves to this day.

Debbie Gonio is the Music Director for all the Sunday morning traditional and contemporary worship services. She has been a church musician for over 18 years, 12 of which have been at Trinity.
